Continuity and change in collective workplace conflict in Britain

Details

This report explores how collective conflict at work is changing, by identifying changes and continuities in:

  • the actors involved in collective workplace conflict
  • the issues causing collective conflict
  • the channels through which it manifests

The researchers carried out a literature search to identify trends for these 3 themes. They also undertook interviews with members of Acas staff and other stakeholders including academics, trade unions, employers' organisations and other industrial relations specialists.

This report was prepared for Acas by (in alphabetical order):

  • Dr Duncan Adam from the Department of People and Performance, Manchester Metropolitan University
  • Dr Deborah Dean and Dr Manuela Galetto from the Industrial Relations Research Unit, University of Warwick
  • Prof Melanie Simms from the Adam Smith Business School, University of Glasgow
